2017 Arkansas-Bred Stakes

The 2017 Stakes Program kicked off February 24th debut of Arkansas-bred stakes races. Nine starters going forward in the Downthedustyroad Breeders’ Stakes, EASTER INDY took the win for the second year in a row. The connections breeders, John & Libbie Thiel, trainer Bill Martin, and owners John & Libbie Thiel and Martin Brothers, Inc. proved to be the perfect match for the 5 year-old son of A P Million. Lady Lake followed one
length back nosing out Nikki’s Rose for second.

2016 Awards Banquet

The 2016 Awards banquet produced little surprises. For eight consecutive years (2009- 2016), Breeder of the Year went to Bill McDowell of McDowell Farm. McDowell was also Breeder of the Year three previous years, from 2001 to 2005, when the earnings of Millsap Stables, Inc.’s foals was greater.
