OAKLAWN 2018 SEASON NEARS

Oaklawn’s backside stable gate opened Monday, November 13. The significance of that date is … The 2018 Oaklawn live meet is 60 days away!

Arkansas’ own, Tammy Hornsby, was spotted across from the ATBHA office unloading the first horse on the grounds, Guskamon Shoes, a 6 time winner at Oaklawn, here for the upcoming live meet.

The first 2018 Condition books have been mailed as have the stall assignments. Things are moving forward for a fun and busy 2018. We look forward to seeing all of our racing enthusiasts, horsemen, horse women, visitors Photo courtesy Sentinel-Record/Richard Rasmussen and fans. The purses are some of the best in the country and Oaklawn is attracting some of the best horses in the country.

ATBHA will again be paying the incentive bonus to the owner of a registered Arkansas-bred that finishes in the money in an open company race. $4,000 for a first place finish, $2,000 for a second and $1,000 for a third. Good luck to our Arkansas-bred owners and all of the Arkansas connections!

Oaklawn’s 2018 meet is scheduled to begin Friday, January13 and run through Saturday, April 15.

ARKANSAS-BRED COLT SELLS FOR $55,000

A 2017 colt by Fed Biz (by Giant’s Causeway – Spunoutacontrol, by Wild Again) out of Spring Morning, a Mr. Prospector mare, sold for a $55,000 tag on day six of the Keeneland Thoroughbred Sale. The dam, Spring Morning, owned by Jon Starr, was bred back to Randy Patterson’s stallion, Moonshine Mullin (by Albert the Great) who stands at Cedar Run Farm in Pearcy, to produce a 2018 foal.
