USE NEW STALLION, BROODMARE AND FOAL REGISTRATION FORMS for registrations. Forms are posted under the tab News & Information, then under Forms.
REGISTER NEW BROODMARES IMMEDIATELY UPON BRINGING THEM INTO THE STATE OF ARKANSAS OR UPON BREEDING THEM.
Rules & Regulations pertaining to the Stallion, Broodmare and Foal registration applications are now printed on the reverse side of each applicable application.

FROM DR. WILLIAM J. McGUIRE – ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY (ASU) EQUINE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The Equine Management Program at Arkansas State University will hold a Fall Mixed Sale at the ASU Equine Center, 3207 E. Johnson Ave., Jonesboro, AR 72401. The sale will be a major project of the ASU Weanling and Yearling Management class, and will provide the students with invaluable experience in sale prep and management. The sale should also be a benefit to Arkansas Breeders. ASU Equine Management Program would appreciate your help in spreading the word of this sale. The CONSIGNMENT CONTRACT is attached. CONSIGNMENT DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 15, 2019.

The sale will be held in their indoor arena. There is a 54 stall barn in which the yearlings could be housed and shown. Additionally, a new hotel and convention center is being built on campus, directly across Red Wolf Blvd. from the equine center to house sale attendees.

NOTICE TO ALL ATBHA RACING OWNERS!!!

The Board of Directors of the Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders’ & Horsemen’s Association together with Oaklawn Jockey Club is excited to announce that the 2020 Arkansas-bred Stakes Schedule will again feature The Arkansas Breeders’ Championship race, a 1 1/6 mile race, that will run on May 1st of the Oaklawn Park 2020 live meet and will have a $200,000 purse. The purse of the four other restricted stakes, The Downthedustyroad Breeders’ S., Nodouble Breeders’ S., Rainbow S. and Rainbow Miss S., have all been increased to $125,000 each.

The Board of Directors of Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders’ & Horsemen’s Association will vote on the continuance of the incentive purse supplement for the 2020 live meet at their next meeting.

That program, in the past several years, paid the owners of registered Arkansas-breds that finish first, second or third in an open company race, excluding stakes or handicaps, the following incentive purse supplement:

  • $4,000 for a 1st place finish
  • $2,000 for a 2nd place finish
  • $1,000 for a 3rd place finish

What is the ATBHA?

Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders’ & Horsemen’s Association (ATBHA) was founded in April 1961. ATBHA is the official breed registry for all Registered Arkansas-bred Thoroughbreds. The registrations of the Registered Arkansas-bred Thoroughbreds are made by the association’s members to the ATBHA office. The purpose of these registrations is to qualify Registered Arkansas-bred Thoroughbreds for eligibility to run in restricted Arkansas-bred races and to qualify the owners and breeders of Registered Arkansas-bred Thoroughbreds for participation in the Owner, Breeder and/or Stallion Owner Awards program.
