Newsletter for April – June 2020
Here are some of the highlights from this issue…
With only a little over four months of 2020 behind us, what a year of uncertainties we have had. The Cella family stood up to the uncertainties and put the horses and horsemen first by allowing the horses to complete the 57 day live meet program in high fashion, without spectators and made history the final day of the meet by splitting the Arkansas Derby into two divisions. Because of the overwhelming interest in this step to the Kentucky Derby, both divisions carried the same number of points and the purses were divided equally from the original $1,000,000, each with a $500,000 purse. It’s a wonderful feeling to see Arkansas and Oaklawn play such a large role in thoroughbred racing and the Kentucky Derby to accommodate the three year olds vieing for entry into the first leg of the triple crown.
