Please read instructions of eligibility for registration of a Broodmare. An application for registration of Broodmare is due at the time of her arrival in Arkansas prior to foaling. This Broodmare registration is valid until there is an ownership change from that shown below. Please type or print in ink, filling in all information requested for registration of this Broodmare.

Rules and Regulations Pertaining to Registration of a Broodmare
“Registered Arkansas-bred thoroughbred horses, registered Arkansas thoroughbred broodmare, registered Arkansas
thoroughbred stallion, foal registration, broodmare registration and stallion registration, eligibility to participate in the
Arkansas Racing Commission Purse and Awards Fund and eligibility to participate in races that are restricted to
registered Arkansas-bred thoroughbred horses shall be determined and made in accordance with registration rules and
regulations, including reasonable time deadlines and fee schedules, adopted by the Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders’
and Horsemen’s Association and approved by the Commission.”
ATBHA Registration Rules & Regulations have been adopted by the ATBHA and approved by the Arkansas Racing
Commission. Below is the portion that specifically pertains to Broodmare registration and eligibility:
III. BROODMARE REGISTRATION.
A. A broodmare in foal by a stallion not registered as an Arkansas Stallion who is brought into Arkansas for the purpose
of foaling and registering her foal as a Registered Arkansas-bred must be reported by the broodmare owner or agent at
the time of her arrival in Arkansas prior to foaling by completing and filing an Application for Registration of Broodmare
with ATBHA, accompanied by a copy of the broodmare’s Jockey Club Certificate of Foal Registration, including the
section showing ownership transfers, and payment of broodmare registration fee together with current ATBHA
membership dues, if not previously paid.
B. In order for a mare to be registered with ATBHA as a “registered Arkansas thoroughbred broodmare”, her registration
with ATBHA must be accomplished (1) as stated in section III. A. above, or (2) If section III. A. above is not applicable,
prior to foaling the foal for which the registration as an “Arkansas-bred thoroughbred horse” is sought.
C. To register a broodmare as a “registered Arkansas-bred thoroughbred broodmare” an Application for Registration of
Broodmare must be completed and filed with ATBHA prior to foaling, accompanied by a copy of the broodmare’s Jockey
Club Certificate of Foal Registration, including the section showing ownership transfers, and payment of broodmare
registration fee together with current ATBHA membership dues, if not previously paid.
D. A broodmare will remain registered and her owner shall be entitled to Breeder’s Awards based on the earnings of her
registered Arkansas-bred progeny until said broodmare changes ownership. If a broodmare is sold or otherwise changes
ownership, the new owner must re-register said broodmare into his/her name prior to foaling in order for that
broodmare’s registration status to remain uninterrupted and to be entitled to Breeder’s Awards based on the earnings
of her registered Arkansas-bred progeny foaled during his ownership.
